About Dr. Richard M. Lyons
Our goal is to provide the highest quality orthodontic treatment in caring and friendly atmosphere. We are a well-established for over 80 years that provides state-of -the-art orthodontics in a beautifully restored Chinatown mansion in the crossroads of Tribeca, Chinatown, Little Italy, Soho and City Hall. We have incorporated the latest technology, and use current orthodontic and orthopedic procedures in the treatment of our patients of all ages to ensure that every patient achieves a beautiful and healthy smile.
We specialize in the treatment of young children and adolescents as well as young (and not so young) adults. Dr. Lyons pride himself on knowing the latest techniques and utilizing the most effective orthodontic appliances.
We work with other specialists in the coordinated treatment of our patients. Such interdisciplinary treatments include corrective jaw surgery, placement of dental implants, complex restorative and periodontal problems, as well as the management of craniofacial deformities and birth defects.

Computer System
Our computer system is designed to manage the most efficient and up-to-date orthodontic practice. Our records are computerized and our team is fluent in the use of computers, including our assistants and hygienists. The computer system can generate letters to patients, other dentists, and insurance companies. It also handles treatment and payment plans. We make sure our computer system takes care of the technicalities so that we can provide you with the utmost individualized care. We also have a computerized "on-deck" system that allows the patient to sign in individually upon arrival at the office.
Digital Radiographs
We use the most sophisticated digital x-ray system on the market today, ensuring that our patients are exposed to the minimal radiation possible. Our x-ray machine was designed specifically for orthodontists and automatically adjusts to each patient to obtain accurate images every time. The digital radiograph can be previewed immediately and downloaded into the patient's electronic record.
Digital Images
As part of the new patient exam, we use digital cameras that allow our team members to photograph your face and the inside of your mouth easily and painlessly. The photographic image can be viewed on the computer using a specialized orthodontic software program and enlarged for you and the doctor to view together. These images of the patient are useful in discussing the needs for treatment. We also use them throughout treatment to monitor progress. Both the orthodontic team and the patient can see the transformation take place.

About Our Staff
Dr. Richard Lyons Jr. earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology while attending Long Island University. Dr. Richard Lyons earned his degree in Dentistry from Howard University in Washington D.C. After graduating, Dr. Lyons did a residency in General Dentistry at Metropolitan Hospital in NYC. Dr. Lyons received his certificate in Orthodontics from New York University. After receiving his certificate in Orthodontics, Dr. Lyons was accepted in the Master of Public Health program at Columbia University.
Dr Lyons Jr. has given numerous lectures to study clubs and universities, and is committed not only to sharing his knowledge with students and colleagues alike, but to enhancing his own skills, Dr. Lyons routinely attends conventions, educational courses throughout the United States. Lectures such as those offered by major universities help Dr. Lyons stay abreast of the latest procedures, techniques and innovations. Dr. Lyons also is an advisor on new appliances and treatment modalities to a major orthodontic company. Dr. Lyons and his sister Eloise have received civic awards from the Majors' of NYC for their community activities.
